Southern Border: Turnstile for Crime, Cartels, & Drugs
WASHINGTON—Yesterday, for the second time in the 118th Congress, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) traveled to Eagle Pass, Texas, to see firsthand the shocking reality of the Biden Administration’s out-of-control border crisis. He joined Speaker Mike Johnson (LA-04) and 64 colleagues to examine the humanitarian and security crisis in the Del Rio Sector and hear directly from Customs Border Patrol (CBP) officers about the resources they need to effectively do their jobs.
“Last year, I visited the southern border, and I am outraged that this administration has made zero progress nor substantial effort to protect our nation from the siege of illegal immigrants at our border. From China to Latin America and Iran to Guinea, our porous border is an open wound being taken advantage of by criminals, human traffickers, cartels, and even terrorists from around the world. Our southern border remains open for one reason and one reason only: because President Biden and Senate Democrats will not shut it down. House Republicans have a plan—H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. To end the chaos at the border, we must enforce the law and protect the American citizens we serve,” said Congressman Aaron Bean.
There were 302,000 illegal encounters in December 2023, not including the number of migrants that slipped through without being processed, marking the highest monthly total recorded in our nation’s history. Congressman Bean is working with House Republicans to deliver on their Commitment to America to restore law and order at the border and to strengthen immigration enforcement.
