Ladies and gentlemen, a very good afternoon, my name is Aaron Bean. I’m a brand-new member of congress from northeast Florida, and today I’m fulfilling a campaign promise. I said on one of my first trips that I would go to the border. We all know the huge numbers in the paper and see video feeds of just massive amounts of people coming, but today thanks to Rep. Tony Gonzales and the friendly people of southeast Texas, that actually showed us the full impact of those huge numbers and it’s far more devasting than I could ever imagine.
You name the sector and there is a grave toll being taken upon it. Law enforcement you’ve said, “there’s no place to put these folks” and Uvalde medical said, “we’re overloaded.” The schools, the lockdowns, the chases that have never happened like they happen now, the actual hot pursuits, and that’s what triggers those schools to be locked down. To visit the unaccompanied minor center and see the faces of it—it’s shocking what’s happening out there, and to talk to members of our border control that say they’re outmaneuvered, outmanned, out you name it, the cartels are more sophisticated with the equipment and technology.
So, there’s two takeaways I want everybody to note. One is if anybody, particularly anybody in the Biden administration, that says the border is secure that is horse hocky that is absolutely false. Somebody needs to challenge them, I’ll challenge them. But if you are a member of the press and a member of the Biden administration says the border is secure—we’ve heard it said many times— then no, it is not. Ask some of the ranchers who can’t—in fact even a judge this morning won’t let his family out of their house to go to their garage 50 feet away, they can’t go to their barn 50 yards away to let their kids feed their animals because they never know who is lurking out there, on any given day there may be dozes of bad people wanting to do bad things. So, tell them the border is secure how about that? When they can’t go outside their house.
It’s made me wonder all day, because I used to think it’s either one of two things: one is the Biden administration is just inept, are just so bad that they don’t know what they are doing? Or are they allowing this to happen on purpose? At first, I thought they just don’t’ know what they’re doing, but now after seeing the toll in action I’ve begun to wonder why on earth are they doing this on purpose. It’s no longer a Texas problem, it’s America’s problem. Let’s work together to fix it. Thank you so much.
