Congressman Bean Receives “Taxpayers’ Friend Award”

September 11, 2024

WASHINGTON—The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) announced U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) is one of only 38 House members to have earned the NTU’s “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” Congressman Bean earned an “A” for his strong voting record in support of legislation to cut Washington’s reckless spending and lower taxes during the first session of the 118th Congress.

“Inflation is the highest it’s been since 1982 and is squeezing Floridians’ budgets dry. The Biden-Harris administration’s policies have directly caused this tax on all Americans, while providing no immediate relief to Floridians when they need it most, said Congressman Bean.“Northeast Floridians can’t afford Crazy Town’s excessive spending, but we are certainly paying for it. That’s why I’m working every day to lower taxes, reduce regulations, and fight reckless government spending.”

“Our nation is facing unprecedented fiscal challenges and Congress must act in a more fiscally responsible manner,” said Pete Sepp, President of NTU. “Casting votes to reduce spending and limit the growth of government isn't always easy, but taxpayers should know that Congressman Bean has been one of the most consistent advocates for fiscal discipline. On behalf of the people who pay the government's bills, National Taxpayers Union thanks Congressman Bean for his strong voting record."

BACKGROUND

Since 1979, NTU has annually recognized Representatives and Senators who earn high voting scores to qualify them for the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” All members of Congress are evaluated on votes taken that impact tax, spending, trade, and regulatory policy, and issued a score. Awards are presented to those who score 87 percent or higher.
