Congressman Bean Fights for Aid to Israel
WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) voted in favor of the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which provides our greatest ally, Israel, with the resources needed to defend itself against the barbaric Iranian-backed terrorist organization, Hamas.
This bill appropriates $14.3 billion for Israel and the funding will be offset by taking money away from the overfunded IRS.
“House Republicans have always been and remain committed to our cherished friend and partner, the state of Israel. Today, the House reaffirmed and strengthened our commitment to Israel as it defends its citizens from the savage, unprovoked war launched by Hamas and other Iran-backed terrorists.
Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and the success of its military operation is vital to our national security. When Israel is safer, America is safer. When Israel is stronger, we are stronger. Today, there is only one foreign policy solution: we must guarantee that our ally has all the weapons and support they need to annihilate bloodthirsty Hamas,” said Congressman Bean.
The paid for bill includes funding for Israel’s defense systems, including:
- $4 billion for Iron Dome and David’s Sling – two of Israel’s critical missile defense systems.
- $1.2 billion for the Iron Beam defense system.
- $3.5 billion in Foreign Military Financing for weapons and defense articles and services.
- $1 billion to enhance production and development of artillery and critical munitions.
Provides $4.4 billion in support of U.S. military readiness by replenishing U.S. defense articles provided to Israel from existing stocks.
Additionally, the bill includes $150 million for enhanced embassy security and surged personnel support in Israel, as well as $50 million to support costs associated with emergency evacuations of American citizens and related logistics.
