Congressman Bean Applauds NDAA Passage, Secures Wins for Northeast Florida
WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24).
“As a strong advocate for our nation’s military, I am proud to give Northeast Florida a voice in the halls of the highest levels of government. Today, I voted to safeguard America’s future, support our great warfighters, and solidify Northeast Florida’s critical role in our nation’s national security.
The threats America faces today from North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China are unprecedented. Surpassing our adversaries is only attainable with a military that doesn’t cater to any credo other than America First.
The provisions in this NDAA invests in emerging technologies, upholds our nuclear posture, and strengthens our military readiness. It meets our national security needs while rejecting the radical left’s divisive woke policies. This legislation instead prioritizes the morale and welfare of our service members with a 5.2% pay raise, the largest pay raise in 20 years.
For these reasons, I am proud to advance a defense bill that supports our servicemembers and their families, ensures the lethality of our military, and counters the unprecedented threats posed by our adversaries.”

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The FY24 NDAA recognizes the critical role Northeast Florida plays in our national defense and strengthens that role for years to come by:
- Protecting and supporting the missions of our Littoral Combat Ships and Destroyers stationed at Naval Station Mayport.
- Allocating funding for new construction projects at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, including an Automated Multipurpose Machine Gun Range, Training Aids Center, and Wedge Infantry Squad Battle Course and an F-35 Munitions Storage Area at the Jacksonville Air National Guard Base.
The National Defense Authorization Act is legislation that Congress passes each year to make changes to the policies and organization of United States defense agencies and provide guidance on how military funding may be spent. Though funding for the U.S. military must be approved through appropriation bills, Congress uses the NDAA to establish defense priorities, make organizational changes to military agencies, and provide guidance to the Department of Defense.
