Congressman Bean Applauds NDAA Passage, Secures Major Wins for Our Military Families

June 14, 2024

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25).

“Today, I voted to safeguard America’s future, support our great warfighters and their families, and solidify Northeast Florida’s critical role in our nation’s national security.

No military family should have to rely on food stamps to feed their children. But that’s exactly what many of our servicemembers are experiencing, especially the junior enlisted. I am proud this bill includes a historic 20 percent pay raise for the junior enlisted, improves the cost-of-living calculation, and expands the housing and food allowances. These historic improvements in the quality of life for our servicemembers are critical because now, more than ever, we need to recruit and retain the best and the brightest.

With the passage of this legislation, House Republicans are ensuring our military remains unchallenged and unrivaled anywhere in the world. The provisions within this year’s NDAA invest in emerging technologies, uphold our nuclear posture, and strengthen our military readiness. It meets our national security needs while rejecting the radical left’s divisive woke policies.

For these reasons, I was proud to advance this defense bill that supports our servicemembers and our military families who dedicate their lives to protecting and defending our glorious American freedoms,” said Congressman Bean.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The National Defense Authorization Act is legislation that Congress passes each year to make changes to the policies and organization of United States defense agencies and provide guidance on how military funding may be spent. Though funding for the U.S. military must be approved through appropriation bills, Congress uses the NDAA to establish defense priorities, make organizational changes to military agencies, and provide guidance to the Department of Defense.
