Bean Visits the Southern Border in Eagle Pass, Hears Directly from Americans on the Frontlines
WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) toured Eagle Pass, Texas in the Del Rio Sector and spoke with United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and members of the community on the unprecedented impact of President Biden’s open border policies.
“I used to think the Biden administration was so inept that they just didn’t know what they were doing. But now, after seeing the border crisis firsthand, I want to know why the Biden administration is purposefully allowing this crisis to continue and get worse,” said Congressman Bean. “This is no longer a Texas problem this is America’s problem. Let’s work together to fix this.”
- Congressman Bean visited Eagle Pass, Texas, part of the CBP’s Del Rio Sector to evaluate the state of operations under Biden’s open border policies and to assess morale, as House Republicans seek to secure the border and increase support for the CBP.
- Congressman Bean received a briefing on the undue and unstainable challenges that an open border has on first responders in border communities.
- Congressman Bean joined local law enforcement officials from Uvalde, Zavala, Frio and Kinney counties for a ridealong down to hotspot areas.
- Congressman Bean toured the Uvalde Unaccompanied Minors Facility, an initial intake site for migration, and heard from CBP leadership on sector activity.
- He also stopped at a local ranch along the Rio Grande River to speak with a ranch family about the challenges an open border creates for ranchers and landowners.
Bean joined Representatives Tony Gonzales (TX-23), Maria Salazar (FL-27), Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), Erin Houchin (IN-9), and James Moylan (GU).
Four months into Fiscal Year 2023, the border has exceeded more than one million illegal encounters, not including the number of unprocessed border crossers. Congressman Bean is working with House Republicans to deliver on their Commitment to America to restore law and order at the border by passing tough laws to secure the border and strengthen immigration enforcement.
