Bean Statement on Trump Administration’s Latest Push to Protect Taxpayer Dollars
WASHINGTON— In response to the White House Budget Office’s memorandum calling for a temporary freeze on all federal grants and loans, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) released the following statement:
“As elected officials, we must be good stewards of taxpayer money to ensure it supports our nation, citizens, and interests. This temporary pause will allow the Trump administration to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars and examine federal spending to ensure compliance with the recent Trump executive orders. This memo does not apply to individual assistance programs, including food stamps, Medicaid, Social Security, or welfare. Even more, a vast majority of grants will not be impacted beyond what I hope will be a short delay,” said Congressman Bean.
