Congressman Bean Joins Senator Scott to Promote Hurricane Preparedness

August 6, 2025

Jacksonville, FL—Today, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) joined Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal for a crucial hurricane preparedness press conference. In partnership with local emergency management teams, the event united federal, state, and local leaders to spotlight the urgent need for early storm preparation—particularly in Northeast Florida’s most vulnerable communities.

Congressman Bean said:  "Hurricane season isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s a call to action. As a state, we know all too well the devastating impact hurricanes can have on our communities. That’s why preparation isn’t optional—it’s essential. By taking proactive steps now, we can help protect lives and reduce the damage these storms may bring.”

Congressman Bean is championing several legislative initiatives aimed at supporting the residents of Northeast Florida during this hurricane season, including:

  • The Law On Offender Transgressions During Emergencies and Recovery (LOOTER) Act to protect communities from criminals who exploit disaster-stricken areas by imposing federal criminal penalties for theft during declared natural disasters.
  • The Small Business Resilience Act to require the Small Business Administration (SBA) to improve access to disaster assistance and relief programs for business owners in rural areas.
