Congressman Bean Celebrates National School Choice Week in Clay County
WASHINGTON—In celebration of National School Choice Week, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) visited schools in Clay County to spotlight the educational excellence in Northeast Florida.
During his time at R.M. Paterson and Orange Park Elementary Schools, Congressman Bean engaged with enthusiastic fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade classes, sparking lively discussions and sharing his insights about laws and Congress. Congressman Bean also read the children’s books, “Who Am I?” and “Everyone Loves Bacon” as part of his visits to kindergarten and first-grade classes.
After his school visits, Congressman Bean said: “Americans know that one size does not fit all, and they want individual choice. Our kids’ education should be no different. Whether it’s virtual, private, charter, religious, homeschool, or even a public school in a different location—families should decide where and how their child learns. That’s why in Washington, I’m fighting for more power for parents, more options for students, and a better education for everyone—not just this week, but all year long.”
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Earlier this week, Congress Bean joined his colleagues to introduce a resolution designating the week of January 26 through February 1, as “National School Choice Week.” House Resolution 63 is intended to put a spotlight on the need to expand education freedom and education choice across the nation.
On the House Floor, Congressman Bean recently recognized two of Florida Department of Education’s top schools for the 2023-2024 school year: Orange Park Elementary ranked #1 and R.M. Paterson Elementary ranked #10.
As a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee and Chairman of the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee in the 118th Congress, Congressman Bean proudly voted in favor of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights. Additionally, he chaired a subcommittee hearing examining how universal school choice empowers parents to choose the best educational opportunity to match their child’s unique needs and help them thrive academically.
